It is a sad disease because it is man made and a disease that doesn’t exist because it is not recognized as such. However, severe malnutrition is responsible for more than 15,000 deaths of Salvadoran children. It is more than any other prevalent disease currently found in El Salvador including dengue, cancer, hepatitis; pneumonia, and diarrhea, combined. By eliminating severe malnutrition through comprehensive nutritional and educational programs, the benefits to the family, pueblos, and country are tremendous.
